KikoPop Studio: Free Tools We Built for Coloring Book Creators
And Why We Built Them

KikoPop Studio is a collection of six free tools built for the specific problems that coloring book creators, parents, and teachers run into repeatedly. Each one exists because we needed it ourselves and the available solutions were either too expensive, too complicated, or not designed for this use case.

Most design and education software is built for general use cases. Coloring book creators, PreK teachers, and parents making personalized printables end up bending general-purpose tools into workflows they were never designed for — exporting at the wrong resolution, fighting with font tools to get outlines instead of fills, paying for subscriptions to access features they need once a month.

KikoPop Studio is the collection of tools we built because those workarounds were too slow and too frustrating. Everything in Studio is free for basic use, runs in the browser with no installation, and does not require an account to get started.

Here is what each tool does and the specific problem it was built to solve.

CP
Composition

KikoPop Composer

What it does: A layer-based canvas editor for assembling coloring pages from images and text. Upload background images, layer PNG character illustrations, add name/title text as colorable outlines, adjust every element's position and size, and export at 300dpi.

Why we built it: Every existing layer editor either required design expertise or could not export at print resolution without a paid subscription. Parents wanting to make a personalized page for their child should not need to learn Photoshop or pay for Canva Pro to get a 300dpi file.

Who uses it: Parents making personalized pages, teachers building classroom materials, small publishers composing coloring book interiors.

Name Sticker Maker

What it does: Type any name, select from 30+ kid-friendly fonts, and download a transparent outline PNG of the name in seconds. The outline is colorable — not a filled text block. Works as a standalone coloring activity or as an element to add to any coloring page via the Composer.

Why we built it: A child's name is the most motivating thing you can put on a coloring page or worksheet. The existing tools for generating name outlines were either unclear on licensing, low resolution, or buried in a subscription product. This does one thing and does it immediately.

Who uses it: PreK and Kindergarten teachers, parents personalizing coloring books, anyone making classroom name labels or cubby tags.

Activity Generator

Maze Generator

What it does: Generates a unique maze in seven shapes (square, circle, diamond, triangle, hexagon, heart, star) at five difficulty levels, with a custom title and subtitle, and exports a two-page print-ready PDF — puzzle page and solution page.

Why we built it: Static printable mazes get solved and discarded. Teachers and parents who use mazes regularly need a source of unique mazes at the right difficulty level. Every maze the generator produces is unique — the same settings will never produce the same maze twice.

Who uses it: Teachers generating morning work and activity packets, parents sourcing variety for home activity books, publishers building maze sections into activity books.

Worksheet Generator

Trace and Write Generator

What it does: Desktop application (Windows) that generates print-ready trace-and-write worksheets with dashed vector letters, three difficulty levels (starting dots, standard dashes, fine dashes), an optional scene image area, and five writing practice lines below. Exports a print-ready PDF.

Why we built it: Every trace-and-write worksheet generator we found either produced low-resolution output, locked personalization behind a subscription, or generated letters that were technically traceable but not well-designed for handwriting development. The generator uses vector letters that print crisply at any size.

Who uses it: PreK and Kindergarten teachers generating personalized worksheets for each student, homeschool parents, parents supplementing classroom handwriting practice at home.

Background Studio

3D Background Studio

What it does: Generates animated and static 3D-style backgrounds in 18 pattern types (wave, grid, hexagon, diamond, and more) with full color control, export as PNG or animated GIF. Watermark overlay system for brand protection. Designed for use as coloring book backgrounds, cover art elements, and social media assets.

Why we built it: High-quality geometric backgrounds for coloring books are either sold as licensed assets or require 3D software to produce. The 3D Background Studio generates them on demand in the browser, at any color combination, with no software to install.

Who uses it: Publishers building coloring book backgrounds, designers sourcing social media assets, creators building branded content.

Art Practice Lab

What it does: Ten printable skill modules covering the core technical skills needed for professional coloring book line art: pressure control, confidence strokes, ellipse accuracy, clean corners, hatching, closed contours, weight variation, and more. Each module includes pre-printed guide grids for structured practice.

Why we built it: Artists learning to draw for coloring books consistently identify the same skill gaps — hesitant lines, inconsistent weight, open contours. Existing drawing courses either do not cover these specific skills or bury them inside courses that cover far more than the artist needs. The Art Practice Lab is a focused, standalone resource.

Who uses it: Artists developing their coloring book illustration skills, self-taught illustrators filling specific technical gaps, art teachers supplementing studio curriculum.

What's Coming Next
The KikoPop Studio roadmap includes a coloring page background generator, a character pose reference library, and an enhanced version of the Composer with multi-page export for assembling complete book interiors in the browser. All tools follow the same philosophy: one specific problem, solved well, free for the core use case.

The Philosophy Behind Studio

Every tool in Studio exists to solve one specific problem for one specific audience. We have deliberately avoided building general-purpose design software. There are already excellent general-purpose design tools. What does not exist — or did not before Studio — is a collection of tools purpose-built for the specific problems of coloring book creation, early childhood education, and parent-made personalized printables.

Free for the core use case is non-negotiable. A teacher generating personalized worksheets for 25 students should not have to decide whether the per-student cost of a subscription is justified. A parent making one personalized coloring page for their child's birthday should not have to enter credit card details. The tools are free because the problems they solve are problems that should be solvable without a payment decision.

Bottom Line

Six tools, six specific problems, all free for the core use case. Start with whichever one matches your immediate need: Composer for coloring page composition, Name Sticker Maker for personalization, Maze Generator for activity mazes, Trace and Write Generator for handwriting worksheets, 3D Background Studio for backgrounds, or Art Practice Lab for skill development.

All six are at kikopopart.com/studio.
